2017/2018 After School Programs!!
We are excited to announce a new After School Program at Espaço Cultural Samba Trovão!
We will be running our after school programs Mondays through Thursdays at 4318 Hamilton Street, Hyattsville, MD 20781 until 6pm each day. Our programs will be run by educators with decades of experience teaching capoeira and samba to youth both in Brazil and the United States, as well as MSDE Certified K - 12 teachers!
Students will get homework help and snack time every day as well as classes related to Brazilian culture.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, the class focus will be on Capoeira Angola, the movement, music, philosophy, language and culture of this resistance martial art rooted in Afro-Brazilian history.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the class focus will be on Samba music and dance. Students will learn to play, appreciate and identify the different types of Samba music that come out of Brazil along with the origins of it.
