Brazil After School

Brazil After School Program was an enriching after school experience for students to learn about Brazilian culture through Capoeira, Portuguese lessons, Samba percussion and more! Students got picked up from Hyattsville Elementary or St. Jerome's and walked a block and a half to our space.  While here they worked on cultivating community, patience, language skills, emotional and physical control of self and more! Students got homework help when needed and worked in a mixed age setting that allows older students to become role models and leaders and allows younger students the ability to learn from their older peers and create connections with other students in their school community.
While we are not currently running this program, we look forward to working with Hyattsville youth through our youth capoeira classes, workshops and Magruder after school programs.
